I met some sketchers who use candy or mint tins as a palette. Now that I've learned from Shari's workshop that you only need three colors, I decided to make my own.
I spent last of my Euros at the airport gift shop to buy a tin of gum (and tossed out the gum inside because they tasted awful). I colored the inside with white acrylic Sharpie marker so the true paint colors show up, and put dabs of six tube watercolors (three colors I've used in Shari's workshop: Winsor and Newton aureolin yellow, Jack Richesson quinacridone rose, Jack Richesson ultramarine blue, plus warm/cool variation of each primary: Winsor and Newton quinacridone gold, Holbein permanent red, Jack Richesson phthalo blue). It's so fun to use this little palette! It also reminds me of great time I had in Barcelona every time I hold it :)

I bought the same tin and some larger sucret sized ones to do small palettes too.

i got a green tin like that!!! Interested in your use of a white acrlic sharpie makrer- never though of using that to whiten the inside (was thinking about spraying appliance paint and worried that it would ruin it. Have fun!
I have several of these tiny tins with diff color combos. 3 Daniel Smith whole pans or 6 half pans fit nicely...I use Yupo paper in the lid. Meant to buy BCN tins to add to my collection...your sweet tin makes me sorry that I forgot!
Liz, the Sharpie acrylic marker is working well enough for me - I was originally thinking of using spray paint, too, but I remembered I got rid of it to reduce toxic paints in my home. The paints are staining it, but I figure I can paint the lid white again. Debo, your suggestion of using Yupo paper in the lid sounds like it's worth a try! And you can probably find another sweet little tin...at least it's another excuse to go back to BCN :)
